This qualification reflects the role of individuals who diagnose, analyse, evaluate, design and modify vehicle systems in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. Some of the areas covered – faults in body management, theft deterrent, dynamic control, steering, suspension, fuel, transmission, and driveline systems.

Entry Requirements
- Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology or equivalent competency
- At least 18 years old, have completed Australian Year 12 or its equivalent
- Meeting English proficiency standards demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher
Pathways
The Diploma of Automotive Technology is intended to prepare new employees or recognise and develop existing workers who are performing advanced diagnosis and design tasks in the automotive industry. Employment outcomes targeted by this qualification include:
- Advanced diagnostic technician
- Automotive system designer
